HUGSS (Helping Us Give School Supplies) & Coats for Kids

HUGSS & Coats for Kids is a project to help prepare children from low-income households for school. With your help, we plan to provide basic school supplies and coats to 5,500 kids on Wednesday, August 13th, 2014.

Who is eligible?

  • Children from low-income families enrolled in the Anchorage School District (grades K-12). Parents or guardians are the only ones eligible to receive supplies for their children. Click here to download the event flier.

When can I come?

  • Wednesday, August 13th - One Day Only - 9:00 a.m. - 7 p.m. (or until supplies last) 

Where can I get an application?

  • Applications are only available on distribution day (Aug. 13th) at the Sullivan Arena - there is no pre-registration required.

Do I need to bring my children?  

  • No, it is not necessary to bring your child if you know the correct spelling of the student's name, the grade they will be entering and the school they will be attending.

Where can I donate my coats?

  • New coats and gently used clean coats with working zippers can be donated at Lutheran Social Services of Alaska at 1303 West 33rd Avenue and Fireweed One Cleaners (500 Fireweed Lane). After August 11th items need to be taken directly to the Sullivan Arena.  

How can I make a donation to help purchase supplies?
