What is it?

Helping Us Give School Supplies (HUGSS) & Coats for Kids annual events help prepare Alaskan children from low-income households for school.

With the help of our generous donors and sponsors, HUGSS is an annual collaboration with a number of other local nonprofits and for-profit organizations to provide basic school supplies to thousands of children.

Additionally, Coats for Kids provides coats statewide, distributing them through the local corps of The Salvation Army Alaska, to keep children warm in our coldest state. This important event would not be possible without the faithful support of Fred Meyer and other sponsors.

In addition to Fred Meyer, our HUGSS and Coats for Kids partners include: Anchorage School District, Catholic Social Services, Lutheran Social Services, The Salvation Army, 3M, Carlile Transportation, Fireweed Cleaners, First National Bank of Alaska, Fred Meyer, Providence Health & Services Alaska, SMG Group/Sullivan Arena, TOTE, Walmart, Wells Fargo, and others.
